See, I still stand by the Catholic view of babies: they're little angry cranky poop machines that only want to be fed. They don't have moral consciences. They're born with a predilection towards violence and greed. And yet, at the same time, a part of their makeup is spiritual; they are capable of love and attachment.
They haven't done anything yet. But their essential natures are already formed.
